Memoirely uses a minimal set of cookies focused on making the service work correctly and securely. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

These cookies are essential for the service to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality. They include:

• Authentication tokens — Set by our authentication provider (Supabase Auth) to keep you logged in securely across sessions. These are HTTP-only, secure cookies.

3.2 Functional Cookies

These cookies remember your preferences to improve your experience:

• Theme preference — Remembers your chosen Dark, Light, or System theme via next-themes.

3.3 Local Storage (Not Cookies)

In addition to cookies, Memoirely uses your browser's localStorage for:

• Draft auto-save — Journal entries and new memories are saved locally every 10 seconds so you never lose work.

Local storage data is stored on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly save the content.

Memoirely does not use:

• Third-party advertising cookies
• Cross-site tracking cookies
• Analytics cookies that identify you personally (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel)
• Social media tracking pixels

5. Third-Party Services

Some third-party services we use may set their own cookies during authentication or payment flows:

• Payment provider — When you visit the checkout flow, our payment provider may set cookies for fraud prevention and payment processing. See their cookie policy for details.
• Google OAuth / GitHub OAuth — If you sign in via Google or GitHub, those services may set their own authentication cookies governed by their respective privacy policies.

Note: disabling strictly necessary cookies (such as authentication tokens) will prevent you from logging in and using Memoirely.

When you first visit Memoirely, strictly necessary cookies are set automatically because they are essential for the Service to function. We do not set any non-essential cookies without your consent.

Specifically:

• Strictly necessary cookies (auth session tokens) — set automatically. These cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
• Functional cookies (theme preference) — set based on your browser/device settings. You can clear these via browser settings at any time.
• Third-party cookies — set only during specific interactions (e.g., Stripe payment flow, Google/GitHub OAuth). These are governed by the respective provider's cookie policies.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics cookies that identify you personally. If we introduce any non-essential cookies in the future, we will ask for your explicit consent before setting them and provide a cookie preference centre where you can manage your choices.
